Piano Lessons

In-Person Lessons

Lessons are offered at my home studio in Warsaw, NC. I also offer group piano lessons for students on the same level. Lesson times are 30 minutes or 1 hour each week.

Online Zoom Lessons

Online Zoom lessons are offered to those who live outside driving distance of the studio or for those that cannot make an in-person lesson. All Zoom lessons are recorded and sent to the student so they can review the lesson concepts taught while practicing. Zoom lessons require a solid internet connection and a camera pointing down towards the keyboard.

Lesson Concepts

Lesson concepts include the following:

  • Sight-reading
  • Playing by ear
  • Gospel/Jazz "licks"
  • Traditional/convention style hymn playing
  • Shape note and traditional note reading
  • Basic & advanced music theory
  • Re-harmonization
  • Arranging
  • Improvisation
  • Nashville number system/charting
  • Playing for special services (weddings, funerals, ect...)

Frequently Asked Questions piano lessons

I teach both! One step to becoming a well rounded musician is being able to read music and also adding your own style and "licks" to the piece. Students can learn entirely by ear, entirely by music, or both simultaneously!

Absolutely not! Learning and experiencing the joy of music is for all ages. From my experience, one can teach an old dog new tricks!

It's by all means is just as effective! I studied private piano entirely over Zoom, only having in-person lessons when I traveled near my piano teacher's home north of Atlanta, GA. I started with minimal knowledge of the piano and learned enough to win a national competition entirely on Zoom.

This depends on how much practice you commit to every week. An 11 year old student of mine with zero previous knowledge of music performed in church after taking only two and a half months of lessons (10 total lessons). If you commit to practicing for at least 30 mins to 1 hour each day, you will be able to play in no time!
